There’s no shortage of ways to learn about screenwriting. You can watch YouTube videos, attend webinars, read produced screenplays, read bad screenplays, take classes, get coverage on your own work. But for me (Angela) personally – and I think for many other writers – the foundation of my screenwriting education has been books.
Classics like The Writer’s Journey, The Coffee Break Screenwriter, Rewrite, and Save the Cat… they all have one thing in common: they’re all published by Michael Wiese Productions.
MWP Prizes for Write LA 3.0
Last year MWP partnered with us, offering one free screenwriting book to each of our semifinalists, two to our finalists, and three to our winners. This year, MWP is offering those same prizes at each level.
In addition, MWP has generously provided us with some extra books to raffle off to people on our mailing list, our followers on social media, and a few lucky entrants. We are so grateful to have the support of MWP again this year, and we can’t wait to share the below books this season:
Michael Wiese Productions has printed approximately 200 different books, some in up to eighteen languages, and those books are used in over 700 film courses. To shop MWP’s many titles on screenwriting, directing, producing, acting, and filmmaking in general, head to mwp.com.
All MWP books can also be purchased on Kindle in ten seconds or less!
Write LA Opens for Entries on April 15
Sign up for our mailing list at the bottom of this post for reminders about our deadlines as well as exclusive discounts – and chances to win MWP books! You’ll also get nine of last year’s Oscar-nominated screenplays sent to you just for signing up.
We hope you’ll send your feature and pilot scripts our way in a few short weeks!
