As we approach our final contest deadline on September 2, we are thrilled to announce Write/LA’s first five Industry Insiders:
Daniela Gonzalez – Literary Manager, Circle of Confusion
Shawn Boxe – Writer, Silicon Valley
Monica Levinson – President of Production, ShivHans Pictures (Trumbo, Beirut, Captain Fantastic)
Greg Schmidt – Vice President of Production, Truant Pictures
Krista Carpenter – Manager, Fictional Entity Media Inc.
These amazingly talented and insightful pros will each read one of our eight finalist scripts and give the writer(s) written feedback. We will carefully pair each finalist with each Insider to ensure a good genre and taste fit. It would be hard to overstate just how helpful this sort of feedback from people currently working in the industry can be.
We spend a lot of time talking about the Write/LA grand prize, because it’s awesome (three winners will be flown to Los Angeles, put up in The Standard on Sunset, treated to a private screenwriting lab, and get to see up to thirty pages of their winning scripts performed on stage by professional actors at an invite-only event). But the prizes don’t end there.
In addition to their written feedback from these top-notch Insiders, our eight finalists will join twenty semi-finalists in receiving a feedback call from head judge Tim Schildberger and a professional logline polish from the founder of LA Screenwriter (that’s-a-me). Plus, all fifty quarter-finalists will get a year of discounts from LiveRead/LA and two tickets to the invite-only live read event in Los Angeles.
We are thrilled and incredibly grateful to have each of these wonderful people supporting the mission of Write/LA. Enter before midnight PDT on September 2, 2018, via Film Freeway for the opportunity to be part of our inaugural Write/LA class.
If you have more questions about the competition, I (Angela Bourassa, co-founder of Write/LA) will be holding on AMA on the Screenwriting subReddit on Thursday, August 30, at 11:00am PDT. Swing by to ask questions about the competition or to get my take on your latest logline!
